Hello again!
Everyone loves it when they find a new, fun, focus fabric for their quilt. A bold strip or a big floral plays a large role in the way a quilt looks. The blender fabrics, however, give the contrast that let those big patterns shine and provide the eye with a place to rest. One of my favorite types of fabrics for this use are shirtings. These fabrics are just as popular now as they were back when they were introduced in 1875.
We have quite a few shirting options available online for you. The Sommerset Shirtings collection is one that is perfect for replicating a turn of the century quilt. We sell this as a grouping of 28 fat quarters.
As I’ve mentioned in my previous blogs, we have a group of light shirtings in my new History Repeated collection as well. This grouping of light shirtings
plays very well with the other fabrics in the line, but you could certainly mix and match with other fabrics in blues and browns as well.
There are also some nice shirtings in the Prairie Crossing line, too. Just call the store and we can pull together a grouping of shirtings from this line as well.
Happy sewing!
